In Chhinlin’s Own Words

Who I am Now!

My name is Chhinlin Chhorn. I’m 16 years old. This year, I’m a 12th grade student at Samdech Hun Sen Phnom Penh Thmey high school. Nowaday I’m living with Leadership Academy’s family in Phnom Penh.

Better Than Yesterday

After living in LA for more than 2 years, I have improved remarkably. I have become more self-confident. I can do the presentation and share my thought. Almost every weekend, LA students and I learn and share in the Sharing Knowledge Sessions. Also, I am confident enough to communicate in English. Moreover, I am strengthening my leadership skill. Planning, communication and teamwork are good lessons I learnt from training and community services. LA staff, students, and I work together for the community. Last year, my friends and I went home to support young children during school close because of COVID-19-pandemic. We assisted them with literacy and fun activities so that they were distracted from mobile games. I believe that I am ready for the university life. I am becoming more and more independent. I can do more self-learning by researching the resources I need for practice. Furthermore, I have a good learning habit. I create my schedule. Most importantly, I’m enhancing my English, and I will learn basic computer.

Big Dream for the Community

After high school, I wish to pursue my degree in medication. I’ll learn my best for the entrance exam and the scholarship at University of Health Science because it is the best medical school in Cambodia. I hope I will become a doctor in the public hospital so that I can help children, old people and women who cannot afford their medication. In addition, I’ll go to the community and promote health care to young children, especially personal hygiene and sanitation and nutrition. Last but not least, I wish to build a small library in the community

I am very grateful to Mr. Jim and your team for supporting me since I was a girls’ scholarship student. I don’t know how I should express my thanks to you. And I also want to say Thanks to Leadership Academy that has educated me since I stepped in for the first time into this city.
